School Cinema

A cinema instead of a classroom

We want to support motivated teachers in film education and film literacy work. All films in the Kinemathek's regular programme that are suitable for school classes can be booked as special screenings. We are happy to provide accompanying educational material or film speakers. Admission is 5 euros per person with a minimum of 25 pupils. To register, send us an e-mail at schule@kinemathek-karlsruhe.de.

Schools can also book specific films outside our programme; in that case only the film rental and presentation fees apply.

Creative writing at the cinema

This offer combines short films with creative writing: based on selected films, participants receive matching writing prompts to develop their own texts. In an inspiring cinema atmosphere they engage with cinematic storytelling and use it as a starting point for their writing. At the end there is the opportunity to read the texts aloud in the group and talk about them.

KIT Klimamonster

Regular animation workshops at the Kinemathek

Kit Klimamonster workshops at the Kinemathek all about film, animation, nature, climate and self-efficacy!
We film, animate, watch films, do crafts, draw storyboards, play and produce our own climate-monster animated films!

Cinemini Europe

A film education project for children aged 3–6

Cinemini Europe is a film education project exploring how watching films can be made enriching for children between the ages of 3 and 6 — whether the films are shown at the cinema or at the day-care centre. The films are short, child-friendly works that need no language, which makes them particularly suitable for young children. The offer is free of charge for day-care centres and can take place either at the centre itself or at the cinema.
